His Name
“Whisper… Call out … Shout out His name
And He will come to you.”*
Choir rehearsal room grows warm with Presence
Suddenly it’s too hot in here for this coat of denial
sweater of self-sufficiency shirt of independence
Everything that insulates from His touch
puddles on the floor
as I crouch beside the path
an oblivious desperate Bartimaeus-woman
calling out for the life of my brother
riddled with cancer
JESUS!
begging for the return
of my happy-go-lucky son
JESUS!
weeping over my own
independent carnal ways
JESUS!
